Are you sick of using safety pins to hold your race bib in place? If you're like me, you've got your favorite running shirts that you don't want holes in.
I'm sorry, but I just don't want to ruin my favorite Breakaway Running shirts. I mean...look at them...they are too awesome to be poking holes in!
I recently discovered this awesome, new product called Racedots. You MUST check them out!
What are RaceDots?
Magnetic Race Number Positioning System
RaceDots™ are the simple, elegant and effective alternative to safety pins. Each RaceDot is a unique assembly of two magnets that lock together to hold your race number in place, but they never hurt your clothing.
This made me very curious, so I decided to approach Racedots. I received a package with 5 VERY, strong magnets. I absolutely LOVE the color I received...green & pink...very girly! I knew that I wasn't going to be running a race from the time I received them until the St. Jude Half-Marathon, but I just had to grab one of my old bibs to try them out.
Finally, race day came and I was able to try out my Racedots! I only attached 4 of the magnets, one in each corner, the night before the race. Attaching the magnets took a little practice for me, since I wasn't used to them or their strength...or maybe it's that I'm a perfectionist & want my bib straight and flat.
Once Racedots are in place, they don't budge! This was great since it was very WINDY for the St. Jude race. My only other concern, with the magnets being so strong, was interference with the timing device on the back of my bib & my iPod...no problems whatsoever!
I am definitely a fan now...I love this product! They are reasonably priced, and the BEST part is...NO MORE HOLES!

Racedots sent me an extra set of magnets to giveaway to help get the word out about their product. See the picture below.

I alternate between a bib belt and safety pins. My only concern with the race dots is whether the magnets would affect an insulin pump....
ReplyDeleteJennifer, that is a good question! I will ask Jason with Racedots about that & see what he says.
DeleteWhooo hooo! Love seeing these around! Great giveaway!
DeleteThanks Sue! I think they're pretty fab! :) I wish I had thought of this genius idea!
DeleteJennifer, here's the response I received from Jason at Racedots...
DeleteHi Jennifer,
for any health-related questions we refuse to give a recommendation, the risk is just too great. We just tell people to ask their doctor. So for medical devices such as an insulin pump, pacemakers, etc - they have to ask a doctor. Sorry can't be of more help there. Great post, thank you!

I'm still kickin it old school and using safety pins! But I think these would be much better! No more holes!
ReplyDeleteThey are SO much better! Definitely #nomoreholes! :)
DeleteSometimes I use a belt but I usually pin. These look like a great option!
ReplyDeleteI was using a bib belt as well & would pin the lower portion or just wear the belt to carry my gels.
DeleteI still use safety pins, but this would be a lot better! I had not heard of these. Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteI love finding out about almost unheard of products!
DeleteI like the No More Holes point. No more poking myself with the pin
ReplyDeleteExactly! #DitchThePins
DeleteI would love to give these a try! Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you should! ;)
DeleteWould love to win these for my wife!
ReplyDeleteOr you could get her a set for a stocking stuffer...there's still time! ;) He's offering FREE priority shipping now through 12/23!
DeleteI want to try Racedots since I current use a race belt but am trying to minimize my racing gear.
ReplyDeleteI was using a bib belt too...I used a bib belt in the St. Jude simply for my gels & it kept riding up...I'll use my FlipBelt from now on for gels! I understand about minimizing race gear. I think you would like Racedots!
DeleteI ordered a RooSport 2.0 during their KickStarter campaign, but it did not arrive in time for St. Jude. I hope it here for the Little Rock Marathon.
DeleteI use safety pins currently, but I'd love to try this!
ReplyDeleteMuch better than pins! I think you'd like them.
DeleteUnfortunately, still using pins! I would love these Racedots! So awesome!
ReplyDeleteThey are such a neat product...much better than pins & more stylish!
DeleteI heard about race dots a few months ago and have been dying to try them out!
ReplyDeleteThey are great! Good luck! :)
Deletei'm a safety pin kinda girl, mostly cause i'm too cheap for anything else. but if i'm wearing a fuel belt, i pin it there instead of my shirt.
ReplyDeleteSo much better than pins! I understand about being thrifty. Good luck!
DeleteCurrently still pin to my shirt
ReplyDeleteI just got a bib belt and used it for one race. Otherwise it has been pins up to this point.
ReplyDeleteSadie B.
I used a bib belt...Racedots are so much better!
DeleteSafety pins, a bib belt, or a skirt with magnets built into the flap around the waist.
ReplyDeleteA skirt with magnets? That's pretty cool!
